Virtuous – Part I

When I was thinking of a name for this blog, Proverbs 31 immediately came to mind – especially the tenth verse:

“Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies?” (KJV)

Although Proverbs 31:10-31 talks of the virtuous woman as a good wife, this can still be a model for single women to follow. We don’t have to wait until marriage to become virtuous.

When I think of the virtuous woman, I picture a woman who has her stuff together. She knows who and Whose she is. People know her for her diligence, kindness, strong work ethic, and her love for the Lord. She is a woman who has the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). She is righteous, beautiful in spirit, and wise. She is the epitome of womanhood.

Let’s all strive to be all that God has called us to be. If we choose to take advantage of this time in our lives and embrace singleness, it can help us become the unique and gifted woman He has created us to be. Think of this time in your life as an incubator. Once you’re ready and mature, God will send you to the next level in your life. He will never give you anything you’re not ready to handle.

Therefore, praise God for this time in your life and take full advantage of it. And yes, I know it’s not all sunshine, smiles, and rainbows. Sometimes being single does not feel good, but know that “…ALL things [whatever you are going through] work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28 KJV).
